Kim Wright

Theatre Director
Movement & Intimacy

I am a theatre director specialising in movement, physical storytelling, and ensemble work. I create rehearsal rooms where play, rhythm, and bold invention drive both process and performance. Wearing my movement hat, I love being the person in the room who helps the ensemble find a shared physical language

I’m used to holding playful, high-energy rooms while also being attentive to consent, agency, and clarity — especially when work is physical or heightened. My work blends comedy, improvisation, and physicality to make theatre that is alive, playful, and fully engaging for performers and audiences alike.

My work spans professional and community casts, creating high-quality productions that feel alive, connected, and imaginative. Whether shaping movement or moments of intimacy, I prioritise authenticity, collaboration, and creative freedom. With a strong dance background and a love for ensemble work, I value both individual expression and collective rhythm.

I bring a flexible, organised approach to complex productions, working with care, clarity, and consent. I’m excited to explore how physical storytelling and nuanced performance translate to screen, and I’m open to new projects in the UK and internationally.

Arts Administration & Production experience

Alongside my expertise in directing, movement directing, and intimacy direction, I bring extensive experience in arts administration and production support. As an Assistant Stage Manager, I’ve developed strong skills in coordinating rehearsals, supporting Deputy Stage Managers, and attending production meetings—particularly in touring productions, where logistics, flexibility, and attention to detail are essential.

My experience also includes managing key logistical tasks such as booking spaces, conducting research for production needs, and organising travel for cast and crew. In addition to supporting the rehearsal process, I’ve taken on the responsibility of ensuring that productions run smoothly through effective communication, schedule management, and real-time problem solving.

(Kim's) movement created shape and unity. The movement behind the chairs was slow and intimate in contrast to the comedic scenes, so effective“
