Kim Wright
Theatre Director
Movement | Choreography | Intimacy
I am a theatre maker specialising in direction, movement, choreography, and intimacy.
With a love for comedy and rhythm, I bring a playful energy to my work—where improvisation, precision, and surprise intersect to create something joyful and alive. Improvisation is central to my process: a vital tool for exploring character, deepening connection, and uncovering nuance in performance.
I work to cultivate rehearsal spaces that champion connectedness, collaborative working, and bold contributions. I am drawn to ensemble-driven theatre that speaks to the present moment and invites both rigor and spontaneity.
My work spans professional and community casts, with a focus on creating high-quality productions that feel alive, connected, and imaginative. Whether shaping movement or moments of intimacy, I centre authenticity, collaboration, and creative freedom. With a broad background in dance and a love for ensemble work, I value both individual expression and collective rhythm.
I bring a flexible, organised approach to complex productions, always working with care, clarity, and consent. I’m excited to explore how physical storytelling and nuanced performance can translate to screen, and I’m open to new projects in the UK and internationally.
Arts Administration & Production experience
Alongside my expertise in directing, movement directing, and intimacy direction, I bring extensive experience in arts administration and production support. As an Assistant Stage Manager, I’ve developed strong skills in coordinating rehearsals, supporting Deputy Stage Managers, and attending production meetings—particularly in touring productions, where logistics, flexibility, and attention to detail are essential.
My experience also includes managing key logistical tasks such as booking spaces, conducting research for production needs, and organising travel for cast and crew. In addition to supporting the rehearsal process, I’ve taken on the responsibility of ensuring that productions run smoothly through effective communication, schedule management, and real-time problem solving.
